The Small Business Plan Kit

Turn your idea into a business plan with a clear customer, a price and a sales target

You have a business idea, but the customer is "small businesses," the price is a placeholder and the sales target is whatever sounds encouraging. Each decision seems to depend on three others, so the plan never closes.

To write a business plan for a small business, name one specific customer and problem, separate what you know from what you assume, define a single offer, set a price you can explain, list per-sale and operating costs, calculate the sales that cover those costs and schedule outreach for 90 days. The Small Business Plan Kit connects those decisions in three worksheets.

What's inside

  • Name the customer, not the whole market. Turn a broad idea into one customer, one problem and the evidence you have so far
  • Separate evidence from assumptions. Sort what you know from what you assume and prepare questions for early customer conversations
  • Define the offer. Describe what one customer receives, so it can be priced and explained
  • Set a price you can explain. Record a starting price, the reason behind it and where the offer stops
  • Count the costs. Separate per-sale costs from operating costs and mark each as known or estimated
  • Calculate the sales that cover costs. Work out the whole-sale target from your price, per-sale costs and operating costs
  • Choose outreach that fits your capacity. Pick a small number of actions with a message and a clear buying step
  • Sequence the work. Place customer learning, offer, price, costs and outreach into 90 days of work
  • Customer and Evidence Worksheet (bonus). A 20-minute worksheet that sorts evidence from assumptions and prepares three conversation questions
  • Offer, Price, and Cost Builder (bonus). A fill-in worksheet with a filled example that ends in your sales target
  • 90 Day Customer to Cash Checklist (bonus). A checklist to schedule outreach, set progress checks and keep linked decisions in view

  2. Talk to a few likely customers using the three conversation questions
  3. Define the offer, set a starting price and list your costs
  4. Calculate the sales that cover your operating costs
  5. Choose your outreach actions and schedule the 90 days; aim to finish the plan within seven days

Who it's for

  • First-time founders who want a clear plan before spending money
  • Freelancers and solo owners turning an idea or side project into a business
  • Anyone whose plan is stuck between a broad idea, a placeholder price and a guessed sales target

What it isn't

  • It isn't legal, tax, accounting or investment advice, and it can't guarantee customers, income or that a business will succeed
  • It isn't an investor-grade financial model or a lender's template; it's a practical plan for owners and small teams
  • It's a method with worksheets, not a collection of complete sample business plans

Questions

I haven't chosen a business name, logo or website yet. Can I still use this?

Yes. The kit starts with the customer, the problem, the offer, the price, the costs and outreach, so you don't need a polished business identity to begin. A notebook or the worksheets are enough to prepare focused questions for your first customer conversations.

I don't know enough about my customers to make a plan.

You don't need certainty to start. The Customer and Evidence Worksheet separates what you have observed from what you are assuming, and helps you prepare questions about recent customer behavior and the workarounds people use today. The plan is designed to show you what is still left to learn.

I'm not good with numbers.

The Offer, Price, and Cost Builder walks you through listing your costs and separating the costs of each sale from your operating costs. The sales calculation uses your price, the cost attached to each sale and the operating costs you enter. The result is a basic cost coverage figure, not a forecast of future sales.

Can a worksheet guarantee that customers will buy?

No. The kit does not promise customers, income or that your business will cover every possible cost. Its worksheets help you make your assumptions visible, plan outreach with a clear buying step, record the responses you get and revise your decisions when real evidence comes in.

I've already read business advice and made plans that didn't help. How is this different?

The kit is organized around connected decisions for one business, not general advice. It links customer evidence to your offer, your offer to price and costs, your costs to a sales target, and that target to scheduled outreach. It is a practical planning process, and we have not attached scientific references for the method.

Does it work for service businesses and freelancers?

Yes. The worksheets work for a service or a product offer, and the filled examples include a service package. The kit is written for first-time founders, freelancers and solo owners.

Can I get a refund?

Because it's an instant digital download, all sales are final. If a file doesn't open or download correctly, write to hello@thefixguides.com and we'll fix it or send you a working copy.
